Pre-Order - Engineer Hydrocarbon Submarine in Titanium

I so want to buy another Ball watch, and like the quirky design of the Hydrocarbon. Now in titanium, seems like it wouldn't be a heavy paperweight on the arm - https://shop.ballwatch.ch/slp - but then you would be wrong.

WTF Ball!!! A 40mm titanium watch weighing in at 190g - seriously? Also, while the case dimension might look good, it sits over 16mm high. Even the Pelagos, at 42mm, only sits 14mm high and around 150g on bracelet.

Unless they start designing and developing some dive watches for the common man (40mm and 12mm thick), I won't be back. Not sure who's advising the higher ups, but IMHO, they are really missing the boat. Just look at what Tudor has done with the 58 and how quickly that is flying off the shelves.

    Ok, rant over

I love titanium and I love tritium, but I don’t love this watch enough to pay even the preorder price. If I were willing to drop that kind of cash I would just get a Black Rock on the gray market.

With a model name of “submarine warfare” are you surprised the watch is thick and beefy? Ball makes dress watches, their hydrocarbon series are loud, in your face and unapologetically (overly) masculine.

Trying a little too hard in my book.

Like I said before, at least they're no longer trying to sell these things for over $3k. Other than that, it's just another parts bin special.
