Question Thoughts on a Buckle for a New Strap

I just bought a Hirsch Viscount blue alligator strap for my Baume & Mercier, but some how the strap ended up on my Cannonball instead. The question is do I stick with the 20mm Hirsch buckle or should I purschase a 20mm Ball buckle? I also bought a roller buckle for the strap or should I stick with the roller? Would it bother anyone without having a Ball buckle on a Ball watch? Any advise would be really appreciated. Thanks!!

I would never waste my money on a Ball buckle--they are nice if you have one, but nothing terribly exciting. I use an 18mm sterling silver alligator styled buckle on my 20mm at lug straps, which taper to 18 at the buckle. I have found it difficult to find a quality handmade 20mm buckle, so I would use whatever I had in my watch box instead of forking out extra dough for the Ball version.

Something is very wrong with the WUS editing function, so I will just add a picture of the 18mm buckle I was talking about, from J. Deegan.

I use a deployant from Freda Watch Straps on all of my watch straps. Axel Jost DF2 Premium. I love the fact that it has a minimal thumbnail buckle, (looks more OEM, IMHO) and is high quality. It also saves wear and tear on the strap.

Not worth the extra $ imo. I'd be happy with the hirsch buckle that came along with the strap

I also bought a $6.00 stainless steel roller buckle for the strap, but I am not sure if I like the roller buckle. The navy blue strap looks amazing on the cannonball.

My personal feeling is I'm OK with the strap vendors buckle and logo, but I don't like having another watch brands logo on the watch. May seem like the same thing, but in my mind it is not.

Save the money for not buying a Ball buckle, then use the money to buy another Ball watch. Watch > buckle any day. :)

Thanks for all the input. I tried the buckle with the roller on the end and put the Hirsch one back on. I will try to post some pics of my Cannonball with my new blue alligator strap.
