    trainmaster cleveland express "rattle"

I noticed my trainmaster Cleveland express had a little bit of a "rattle" when I was changing bands today. This is my first "nice" watch and to be honest it's not like I shook it when I first got it to see if that was a normal sound. It never leaves my wrist and keeps good time. Just wondering if it needs service. I noticed the rotor wasn't completely smooth, but again, I cant comment on how different it was before. Is it normal to notice a little play and noise in the moving parts.

I have had 5 or 6 CEs of various styles--none noticeably rattled.

You can hear the rotor in most automatic watches if you listen closely and shake them. Perhaps you are hearing this.

Or possibly a screw came loose. I noticed a freely moving screw through a caseback on an Oris I owned a few years ago. I noticed it in time, took it to a local watch guy who removed it. It luckily did not damage the movement. He said the head broke off.
    Just an idea.

    Good luck.

My Ball engineer master2 diver cosc has a rattle in it whenvu shake it. Another Ball i owned briefly also rattled, but i dont think it means there is a problem. They both keep time very well.

If it is the automatic movement making the noise, it will usually keep making the noise after you have stopped shaking it. The rattle will get 'quicker' as the weight settles again. My EMII is noisier than other watches I have, I thought it might be something to do with the case. Sometimes the movement seems to resonate with the case so that it ticks so loud I can hear it across the room!
