    356 or 103?

Well, I recently acquired a well taken care of, second hand 103 from a fellow forum member to replace the 356 I already have (I thought I would like the 103 more; both are acrylic versions). Though I like the 103, it’s blocky lugs and polished finish are much more of a contrast to the matte, fluid lines of the 356 than I imagined. I didn’t expect to have a dilemma (I can’t keep both) but now I do.

Here some wrist shots of each:

Though I know this seems to be a common comparison and is basically a matter of preference, I’d appreciate any commentary on any that have owned both and kept one and not the other for one reason or another. Thanks in advance!

There is no right answer as you said... it’s a matter of preference.

Both have dates and Chronos so that’s a draw. The 103 has a bezel which could be useful so plus one for that watch if you are timing multiple events.

I think the 356 fits you a little better, but that again is up to you.

I find that the smoother shapes of my 356 make it disappear on wrist. The blockier sinn lugs for the 103 can dig into my wrists on occasion (speaking of my similar EZM 13). I would wear them back to back for a week and see which comes out on top. Really no losers here.

I agree with previous post. 356 fits you better but aesthetically 103 (for me) is more beautiful watch. I have got a lots if compliments for mine. My only negative remark regarding 103 is high polished lugs which are pretty sensitive to scratches (compering to my other cheaper watches). In any case you can't make mistake what ever is your decision. I envy with the pain you have

I was going back and forth between these two before settling on the 356. I chose it because it is slightly dressier without a bezel and looks fantastic with the black leather strap. I time stuff with my watch all the time and haven’t found the lack of a bezel to be a problem.

Tough choice. In an ideal world, I'd love to have both!
I think the 356 looks better on your wrist.

I think the 103 is more visually appealing than the 356. YMMV.

The next watch I get will definitively, finally, and without a question, be my last one!

Love the 356. Something about a bezel-less chrono that’s very attractive

    356 or 103?

The 103 has a bezel, but now that I’ve bought my first chrono, a 900, I find that I actually use the chrono and not the bezel often for timing.
I think the 356 looks more classic or traditional or... like a nice watch handed down. Nice and conservative. Goes with suit or jeans.

    I vote for the 356.

Just one thought, it is rather easy to use the 103 count up bezel to track a different time zone. Which I find quite useful. You’d be surprised how quickly your eye can turn “55” into “11 o’clock” and so on.
So that’s a plus for the 103 if you’d ever do that.

    356 or 103?

Thanks all for the great comments. I am leaning toward the 356 though will give it more time. It’s odd: looking at both watches off the wrist, I prefer the 103. On, the 356. My wife commented the 103 seems too busy. Though I don’t disagree, it has an “instrument” vibe that draws me to it: I guess it’s the way the polished lugs play off the matte, anodized bezel.

One thing is for sure: I prefer the Flieger-less script on the 103’s dial. If there was one thing I could change on the 356, it would be removing that. Just doesn’t seem necessary.

In any case, I’ll post the final verdict. Cheers all and Happy New Year.
