    Question 556i hand winding grainy/difficult

    Hey guys,

I've had my 556i for about four months now and I'm loving it. The only strange thing that I've noticed is when I try hand winding it, the winding is quite grainy and there's a fair amount of resistance.
This is very different to the smooth clicking I'm used to when winding other watches...

Can anyone please let me know if this is normal for the watch?..

    Cheers,
    James

Gears probably need a bit of lubrication. Also sounds like the hand winding mechanism is catching the rotor, normally the rotor gears should be disengaged when hand wound.

I think you're right. Tried winding it upside down, and the rotor has some movement to it. Thanks for picking it!

Not sure but I believe they have a 2824-2 in them very muck the same as what Tag Heuer calls a cal 5 in some models. I had a new watch acting the same way (tag) and returned it for a warranty repair. The gear was indeed catching. They replaced the stem and did a full service even though new. I would be returning your Sinn.
