    Alternatives to RGM servicing?

So I bought a 556i used and love it, but it needs a service. Low power reserve, -15-25 sec a day and the winding feels off. I contacted RGM for a service and they quoted me $445 to service the ETA movement. Seems high? That’s 1/3 the cost of a new one. Is there an alternative in the states for a pretty “simple” service?

I have heard good about Nesbit's Fine Watch Service.

Also, might recommend checking the Omega forum on this website. Seems to be a lot of knowledge there.
    Best wishes.

Look around locally. I've never been charged more than $200 out the door on simple ETA movements.

Talked to Nesbit’s, they can service the movement but can’t get seal for the case or crown.

I just had my 556i serviced locally at Hamilton jewelers in palm beach gardens Florida. 285+tax is what I paid. They did a complete movement overhaul and replaced the mainspring barrel, as well as the seals/gaskets. I sent it in as it wasn’t hand winding properly and had a low power reserve. All is well now and it’s running about +3/day. I would use RGM only if I had a Sinn that came with one of the copper sulfate tablets or was filled with that gas or oil. There isn’t anything really proprietary to Sinn in the. 556.

That does sound expensive..... RGM is your only option when you need some of the specialty Sinn technologies to be addressed/replaced/handled properly, but for the service you are describing I'd go elsewhere.
