Anybody had any problems with the Sinn 856?

I purchased an 856S back in 2010 and its been acting very erratic lately. While vacationing in Europe, it completely froze on me several times. I tried to hand-wind it, and I could even hear the rotor moving around when I gently shook the case, but it did not "start." Then several hours later, it would start up. Did anyone experience something similar?

I have not seen a similar complaint. I can't tell if you mean the
rotor turned when you tried hand winding. I think you need to
have it checked by a watchmaker.

You don't mention where you are now. The Sinn factory has
reasonable service prices. That would be my first choice, but
shipping to the U.S. is expensive. In Canada and the U.S. you
might give Al Archer a call if you don't have someone local.

I'm from the US (Virginia) and my watch is frozen (again) as I'm typing this. I was debating as to whether I would need to send this to the Sinn factory as it is powered by an ETA movement from what I understand (I would rather use a local watchmaker for a better turnaround time). Who is Al Archer? Any other recommendations?

Doesn't Sinn use RGM for service in the States?

While I don;t know the cause, one possibility for occasionally "frozen" could be
contamination in the works. Did someone remove the case back from your watch?

Watchuseek member "Archer" is a watchmaker who posts here, on the Omega
forum, and on the watchmaking forum. He has received good reports from
other members. You could try sending him a private message.

Yes they do. I had to send my U1 to them, and they fixed it for me.

Haven't people stopped into the Sinn factory store in Germany and had service done while they waited? I know folks have done so at the RGM store in PA.

Buy what you like, keep what you love, don't spend too much.
As long as you follow those simple rules - you shouldn't listen to anyone about your watches.

On two visits the Service Manager has done minor diagnostics while I've waited and I've seen on the spot regulation during a factory tour but any in depth work has to be left and goes into the queue.
