Buying a used U1. Anything to look or for?

Iíve always wanted a Sinn and originally was going to buy a less expensive watch as a present to myself and then upgrade in the future. I am now thinking that itís probably best to spend a little extra and not upgrade.

The more I look and learn about the U1ís the more I want it. Since I am probably going to buy used is there anything to look out for? And major changes/updates through the years ?

    Thanks in advance

If itís still under warranty make sure you have the names of all the previous owners. Sinn will need it before they approve any warranty service. Older U1ís use ETA 2824-2, the newer use SW200. Both are Top Grade. I suggest getting a tegimented version, much more scratch resistant in my experience.

    Good luck

Wave1911, I think Spring-Diver has given you good counsel about buying a SINN U1. The U1, from the first time I saw one on my wrist, was love at first night and now still my favorite SINN. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of fine SINN watches and I have owned five different models, but the U1 is still the quintessential SINN for me.

As suggested, if you can find a mint condition SINN U1 tegimented that is the one to get, IMHO. I'm crazy about mine. In addition to the rock solid movements in the U1, they are good solid tool watches without oil or gas in the case. While we are fortunate to have good SINN repair services, any quality watch maker can service a U1.

If you do get a U1, I think you will be happy with it for years to come. I heartily recommend the U1.

The U1 is truly awesome. But, on the bracelet, it is a tank of a watch. Fairly heavy and takes some getting used to. I personally liked the weight and the chunk of the U series. But it is something to consider. Having said that, the way the watch is designed it is very comfortable to wear overall. Great piece.

The U1 is a hefty watch but even so I find it easy to wear on my less than beefy wrist.

    I'd recommend the bracelet option.
The tegimented is a different color than the regular submarine steel so you can't really mix and match bracelets.
Lastly, make sure you get closeups of the hands. I've seen some with uneven painting of the color.

Get the U1. Else, you'll put hard earned money toward some other watch while wishing it was a U1.

Spring-Diver has pretty much summed it up. I own the tegemented version on a bracelet and love it. I was in a pinch for time today and had to get from the beach to my son's recital with a shower and rinse of the wetsuit in between. It did occur to me to be grateful that I was wearing such a beast and did not need to stop to rinse out the salt or dry the thing off...

As Shannon Said, I would also prefer a newer one, perhaps with garantie.

Also important:Which bracelet do you like ? Buy that one, that You prefer. If you have to buy it seperatly, its more expansive.
Look at the anti reflecting coating on the glass: Are there scratches or marks? If it was used Heavily, you Fan See that on the Glass.
The back: The U1 could be a bracelet-Queen. Many People fix there a Lot of different bracelets, If someone did it with no experience, you can see that at the back.
