Personally I don't believe Ar or any coating counts so much. Only if I was professionally diver and too demanding about it, I'd choose it. Thinking of Rolex SD for example, it's such a classic diver watch and still doesn't have any anti-reflective coating.

    Hi,
I vote with "yeas". My first diver was a Stowa Seatime and its sapphire (without outer AR) is very shiny.

As I take a first look to a Fortis B42 with outer AR I love this. And I must have my next watch with this feature.

For my luck, the U2 has it and I am so happy about it.

    cheers
    U2inSpe

i'd prefer that it didn't have the outside AR coating. the AR coating makes even the faintest fingerprints, smudges, dirt readily discernable to the naked eye.

I much prefer the outside AR coating, although without extra hardening, it's prone to scratching. But when smudge-free, it sure makes a black dial black!

I would have the AR only on the inside. The outside AR is my main gripe on my U1.

I think sapphire requires as much AR coating as a watch can get ... having said that, I really like domed acrylic, and I can see the advantages of a flat mineral crystal, both types are much less reflective than sapphire.

    I positively ... ignore uncoated sapphire. That's yesterday's state-of-the-art.

Ah, good question. Clearly, the clearer view is with outer AR as noted with the Fortis B-42 series. The crystal simply disappears. Yet, we have the smudge and smear issue as noted by all.
For me: the Sinn EZM2 has glare at certain angles, yet human joints (shoulder, elbow, wrist, etc.) adjust for this and a simple fractional degree adjustment will set you right. As for the Fortis, it still reflects, just to a lesser degree, which IS nice. I do believe this one might come down to personal preference.

Well, I like it on both sides until it starts to go smudgey on the outside :-D So in that case, I vote for inside only
    Wear what you like.

No outer AR coat, without a doubt.

My 756S tegiment case and bracelet is practically impervious to scratching, it begs to be worn yet I still treat it with kid gloves out of fear of scratching the outer AR.

So, it never gets worn. Thinking of selling it...
