Having just sold my U1, I have the itch to buy another Sinn. For the last few days, I've been researching three different models.
1. The EZM3.
2. The 556A.
3. The 856(non UTC)tegimented.
I'll start with the EZM3. Definitely like the looks of this model, but not too sure about the crown at 9:00 or the white numerals on the dial(would be a no brainer without them). I like the case style as it is similar to my 103A SA. Case size is a very respectable 40mm. Most expensive of the three.
Next up is the 556A. Smaller than the EZM3 at 38.5mm. Large easy to read hour markers at 3,6,9 and 12(old eyes Ya know). Glossy dial(Hmmm). Angled date window at 4:00(not a problem). All in all, a very nice pilot watch(reminds me of my long departed 656). Least expensive of the three, Yay.
Lastly, the 856(non UTC). The middle watch of the three. Biggest advantage right off the bat, the fully Tegimented case and the matte dial. Copper sulphate capsule(same as the EZM3). Inert gas filled and antimagnetic 80,000 A/m. Same easy to read numerals as the 556A. 40mm case size which is about perfect. Drilled lugs(makes strap changing very easy). Solid case back. Priced between the EZM3 and the 556A.
I've been doing a lot of reading about all three and a few things come to mind.
1. I have read that a lot of people were complaining about the ar coating on the crystal scratching easily. I believe if you are careful when wearing the watch, you should have no problem(I wear my watches but I don't beat them to death). 2. I have also read complaints about the angled date at 4:00. I don't see anything wrong with this. As a matter of fact, I would prefer no date function at all. I mean if you don't know what the date is then there is something wrong with you.
Whichever I choose will be on a strap with a deployant clasp(I'm not a fan of bracelets).
556A - $1130.00.
856 non UTC - $1770.00.
EZM3 - $1970.00.
So, which one will it be? This is going to be a tough decision as all three watches are very appealing. Tune in Friday January 2, 2015 for the final decision.
Happy New Year everyone
