On My Way to the Factory

Hello, I've extended a business trip so I can visit the showroom next week. I'll be having the battery changed out on my UX. Way too soon (~3 years) but I figure as long as I'm there? Also have my eye on a 356 SA on a cognac strap. I'll be visiting some shave places since I've just started playing around with straight razors. Any other recommendations in the area? I've read that a 3% discount can be had with cash, but then I started thinking about carrying cash (not sure at what level you have to declare?), an exchange rate cost and it didn't seem so attractive, any recommendations there? Thanks in advance! If I like the 356 in person I'll be sure to post some shots.

I'm envious! I would really like to visit the Sinn factory. Have fun and take lots of pics, please. Cheers, Bill P.

If you receive a 3% cash discount, I'd bring cash. The bank may charge you 3% more than the "actual" exchange rate to change your currency to EURO, which means you break even on the purchase. The credit card company that you use will charge you a much more inflated rate than the "actual" exchange rate and you end up paying retail + the crazy CC exchange rate.

    Pay Cash

Ps. Buy the 356 acrylic, it's a classic

Forget about the 3%, what you want is the 15% VAT refund at the airport. Ask Sinn for the paperwork while you purchase the watch.

just so you know, the oil-filling procedure (unless you plan on running it dry) takes a couple of days, so the watch will need to be there for a bit.

    Devoid,

Darn, missed my chance. If you had stopped by Vancouver I could have given you my UX. It will need a battery change in the next year as well. Oh well, have a great visit. Enjoy. Wish I was there.
