    Quartz in a U1?

I didn't Google this but is it possible to put a Quartz ETA in a U1?

I only ask becausw I gave my father my old U and he's not a fan of automatics. I don't want a to give him a UX as he likes changing batteries himself. I'll swap it back when he's bored of it.

I'm sure it is possible, I would think it would take some work with the dial feet and movement holder. Also, might have to swap hands. Might make it

Seems like it would be far better to find an existing quartz model that he likes and give that to him, rather than destroying a Sinn.

a DIY'er, good for him. You can always get a UX without the oil.

The battery in a UX is good for 7 years, it doesn't seem like the fact he can't change it himself would be a frequent, or huge issue...

We are WIS my father isn't. He wouldn't pay for a simple battery change. There's no sense in talking commonsense in the elderly. And I'd put a quartz in a new subC if that pleased my old man.

Spend 2k on a perfectly good watch and butcher it to put in a quartz mvmnt? Good luck modifying the stack height etc. to get the stem to line up. You would need to research this a ton, and then it would be marginal at best.

Geez, as others have said, if money is No object, buy a UX, drain the oil, clean up the movement and have a party.

I think you can special order a UX without the oil, I saw an EZM2 without the oil. I think some older models were not oil filled.

People don't realize it's not that easy to change the movement on a watch. Like anything if you spend enough time and money it can be done.
