Questions about the standard Sinn Deployant Clasp?

Unfortunately, I don't remember where I read this. But, I remember some one complaining that the standard Sinn deployant clasp was weak. Any truth to this?

Also, does anyone know if the new U series leather strap (the one with the red stitching) will take a standard Sinn deployant. They typically fit 18mm straps right? So, I guess the real question is, is the U series leather 18mm at the buckle?

I had a ..... about the quality of the early Sinn deployments,IMHO they where overpriced and the constuction was at best average.

The newer generation,i cannot comment on,but if i am correct the deployment is geared to 18mm.

I have a Sinn deployant for my 103. The strap is 20mm at the case and 18mm at the buckle. I have enjoyed mine and haven't had any quality issues with it.

I don't know if this one will fit on the U1 watch strap.

Just to answer a little bit more about quality, I have found it sturdy. I don't feel like it'll break anytime soon.

Re: Questions about the standard Sinn Deployant Clasp?

The older Sinn deployants were single fold with a pressure fit clasp. Not the most secure method.

The new Sinn deployants are double fold (butterfly) with a push button clasp. Much more secure and much more comfortable to wear.

All the Sinn deployants I have owned or seen are designed to fit a 18mm strap size at the buckle.

Yes, but I understand the U-series ones are special deployant clasps which will not fit other straps - the question referred to the standard deployant clasp.

My deployant has 2 movable portions so I assume it is the new version but it has no button to press...
I don't do anything extreme with it but it has served me well - never opened without intent...

Re: Questions about the standard Sinn Deployant Clasp?

I am getting the sinn leather strap with the red stitching designed for the U series watch. I assume that it's 22mm at the spring bars, but I doubt that it's 22 at the buckle. I was hoping to get a deployant for it before it get's here, but I guess I'll have to wait.

    Thanks for the info guys!
