Raah - new U1 Teg 15 sec per day

Am seriously disappointed. On Friday I picked up my brand new Sinn U1 with fully tegimented case and bracelet.

What a great looking, great wearing watch. Wore it from then to now and there was a some variability in the timekeeping but it is an average of 15 sec per day fast.

That is hardly what I would call good timekeeping, I would call it below average for even a brand new Seiko 7s26. I've just returned it to Queensland (where the Sinn AD lives) to be adjusted. Thankfully that can be done for free.

I was told about how Sinn regulate each piece to +- 6 secs but mine clearly missed that regulation.

Nothing like having to return a brand new watch 3 days after purchasing it from an AD to be repaired. Might have to stick to Bremont for tough, accurate watches.

Did Peter at Define watches sort it out for you?

It needs to settle in a bit. 72 hours is just getting it warmed up. Personally I would wear it for a month and then start checking for accuracy.

FWIW my SW200 Sinn’s, U1 Pro and EZM9, run at -2 & +6 seconds a day. Hopefully your U1 will settle in somewhere in that range.

    Cheers
    Shannon

Yep, Peter is sorting it out for me. They can adjust/ regulate it in-house so should be fine.

I understand letting the movement settle in and if it was say, +8 sec per day I'd be fine with that, I'd expect it to settle in by a couple of seconds. +15 sec is way too much for a watch that is supposed to be regulated and tested at +- 6 sec per day and thankfully Peter agreed.

I guess mine missed QC on the way out to Oz, or was shaken up en-route. Either way, it is a bummer.

My dealings with Peter have been great. Just pointing it out that you’re not sending it back for repair, it’s more like tuning.

Well, just to follow up on my earlier post, it seems that the watch will be away for at least another week. Apparently the Sinn watchmaker wants to hold onto it to make sure the regulation sticks.

Have to say that at this point, having had the watch for a total of 2 days I am getting a bit despondent. Nothing like dropping 3.7 k on a watch only to not be able to wear it.

I know its hard to be patient when new watches are involved .

Good things come to those who wait....so please do not blame it on the your watch. Give the U1 a (second) chance!

I will, but it's a hard sell. This waiting is pretty painful.
