For silicone strap: the big clasp or the smaller butterfly clasp

I have both the 556 and the 356. I wish to buy a silicone strap but I cannot decide whether to get the large clasp or the smaller butterfly clasp. My wrist is only about 6.5 inches in circumference hence I am afraid that the large clasp may be too big.

Please share with me your views and experiences. Thanks.

Try both if you can, but based on no evidence at all the large clasp might be to big on your wrist. I have both and I prefer the small clasp and my wrist is about 7.25 in.

I agree but would approach it from a different angle. I think the small butterfly clasp would be more ergonomically appropriate and aesthetically pleasing for the 356 and 556 (watches that are 38.5 mm in diameter). I think the large clasp would be better suited to the 42+ mm dive watches.

I think rosborn gave good counsel. For the size of your wrist and the size of your watch, the smaller butterfly would be my pick.

For my 7.5" wrist and my 44mm U1 SDR, the larger clasp is perfect. Cheers, Bill P.

Try the small butterfly first. You can move up to the long deployant later but you can't do it the other way around once the strap is cut. I have a 6.5" wrist and prefer the long deployant with the divers extension removed.

I'm using the 20mm Sinn straps on my EZM2, EZM1s and on my Marathon SAR. I use both Stainless Steel and Titanium long deployants.

I had the large clasp on the 857 and my wrist size is around 6.75in. The size of the strap is not the issue, but it does have really sharp edges around the clasp. The edges would scratch my wife from time to time, so that wasn't a good thing. I actually went back to the leather strap it came with while I wait for a custom leather strap to come in.

I have a long deployant (1 fold) and I'd say the butterfly clasps are more comfortable, the long deployant can get uncomfortable after a while as it rests on the bone and not the centre of your wrist... If that makes sense :)

I like the smaller butterfly clasp better. My wrist is 6.75 inches and liked the smaller appearance of the clasp and more of the rubber showing. For me the large clasp looked too big as it took up a large portion of my lower wrist. I wear the small clasp rubber strap on a UX, but would think the small clasp on the 556 makes even more sense. Plus the small clasp has two adjustment slots to make the strap smaller or larger. No dive extension however...for me it wasn't an issue.
