Sinn 356A hour marker blemish - is this common

    Hi folks:

Recently bought my first Sinn 356SA (used )from a member of this forum. It only came with watch head, warranty card and a Sinn case and nothing else. Upon receiving the watch I didn't give it a second thought as the watch was fairly new (warranty card dated early 2018)

However just today I've noticed there are blue blemishes on several of the hour markers - they are actually quite noticeable to naked eyes (on the 7 and 8 hour markers)- almost looks like someone used a ballpoint pen to draw on it. You can also see them with a loupe on the 10 and 11 hour markers.

Is this normal for Sinn quality? The warranty card's serial number does match with the case back.

At this stage I have contacted the seller and Sinn to see if this can be sorted. Just hoping this is not a counterfeit.

    Please see attached pic.

    Any feedback is welcome

    Cheers

Just an update: dropped by my local watch maker this morning and he was baffled to see that too. At least the good thing is that he doesn't think the watch is a counterfeit.

However in his opinion- to try and remove the stain will require opening up the case and he does not recommend that until service time is due.

Also got a reply from an authorised Sinn service dealer in Australia and will be sending the watch in early Oct, will see what happens then.

This is all very poor from the seller omiting this detail from his initial sales description. I've bought many more expensive watches from trusted members here and never had this happened.

Also done some digging online and it does seem like there aren't replicas or copies of the 356 around. Maybe because it is a pretty low price model already.

I would personally be surprised to hear that it is counterfeit. It is more likely the last owner had the watch opened and serviced or some other repair completed and the marks were made then. Thatís my theory, anyways. Hopefully Sinn handles it under warranty and you receive a new dial and hands.

Glad to hear it wasn’t a wrong un. I would push to get it sorted under warranty sooner rather than later. The guy who suggested that you wait may well have moved on and you’ll end up having to cover the full cost of fixing it.

Personally, I don't see why Sinn would carry out the rectification work under warranty. It's not like the blemishes were their fault, as I can't see how the watch would pass QC with those glaring faults.
