Confused Sinn 556 fluted metal ring behind case back (how to close case properly?)

    Dear community,
I have opened case back on Sinn 556 (had to send it for engraving) and noticed that there is a fluted metal ring (pls see photo below) sitting between case back and the case. It seems there is no dedicated rail to place it in when reassembling, so I turn to you for guidance :). Should I place it on the inner side of the case back (that's the only place where it fits +/-) and screw it (case back) in while holding watch horizontally dial facing up? Because if I turn watch face down (e.g. on the table) and place this ring on top of the movement , it does not stay in place. I am sure it is there for a purpose, just can't figure it out .
    Thanks a lot as always!

I wanted to know too before I open the case back to do some regulation as mine is running a bit fast.

If no one can help here perhaps you can write to Sinn and ask for some guidance (and let us know when u have figured it out )?

The watchmaker from "The Watch Bloke" http://thewatchbloke.co.uk was very kind to answer my question. Here is how you close it:

Put the spring in the caseback with a dab of silicone grease then close up as normal, alternatively close it up holding the watch dial up. The spring prevents the movement from moving in the case when winding or setting the time/date.

    Thanks again.

I think we should 'bookmark' make this thread as a sticky for our future reference. Also glad you got this sorted out. Cheers.
