I saw this model online and would like to get more info - the black dial on rubber - Can anyone share any news, info, experiences?

    Sinn 556A

Isn’t that just a regular 556A fitted with rubber strap...? Or am I missing something here...?

The 556 is good but lacks a lot of Sinn technology. Rubber band, to me, is not comfortable as the H-link bracelet of Sinn.

Therefore, if you can afford a Sinn 856, go for it, because it has the same design as the 556 but a much stronger and sporty look, thanks to the colour of its hardened steel (TEGIMENT technology) :D

I own the 556i and love it. This is a smaller Sinn (38 or 39mm), so if you prefer that size, it’s a good choice. I have mine on bracelet and the bracelet is excellent.

As others have said, this watch does NOT have a hardened case or bracelet — they are normal stainless steel. If being hardened is important to you, look at other Sinn models or Damasko, which I believe offers that in all their models.

For me, the 556i is one of the great GADA watches...

...yes, but the 556 is a classic Sinn design and a great entry level for the brand. Most people will not need the Tegmenting, nor notice the upgrade, particularly in the smallish 556.

A fitted rubber strap can take some getting used to, but Sinn does it well. May feel a little chunky on the 556. You can always change it out to whatever you prefer.

Here’s my newly acquired 836 on the rubber strap. I haven’t even cut the strap to fit yet, but it is well made. Also shown on an Erika’s...very comfortable.

    Re: Sinn 556A

I don't use a Sinn bracelet on my 556a, and I think that might be why the lack of tegimenting isn't an issue for me since the watch is only ~38mm and there's so little to scratch. (Note the 556a with red second option is also available via Watchbuys, but not via Sinn directly). The 556a lume is on the weak side, but the simple yet powerfully beautiful case, handset and dial make up for it, IMHO. Also, another option is the Swick MN by Erika which really made this watch shine for me.
    Good luck--

I’ve bought and sold a lot of watches and remember my 556 fondly. It is a great timepiece and I’m pretty sure I’ll have to get one again in the future.
