Thumbs Down Sinn 656 leather - Thumbs waaaaay down. (with pics)

Ok, I bought my 656 with brown leather strap a while ago from watch buys (great service btw). After not even one month of normal use it started to show signs of stress cracks and pieces of leather started to peel off. The strap has never seen one drop of water. IMO this is totally unacceptable.

Just wondering if anyone had similar experiences.

I will try post pics soon.

    Nope, can't say I did.

Sinn sources straps from several established manufacturers and I can say these straps last similarly long as comparable products that other watch manufacturers put on their watches.

My favourite is the cowhide with case integration, even if it is only available in black. It is made by Di-Modell, rated water resistant -- which on leather straps needs to be taken with a grain of salt -- and wears very comfortably.

The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts.

None of the leather straps I own or have own show the problems you have. I own cheap non branded straps to really expensive branded straps. Cow- pig-ostrich-croc-snake.
Can be a faulty manufacture or faulty handling!!

Well if faulty handling means putting on the watch everyday, then that must be it!

I'm really thinking this is a manufacturing default. Never seen that kind of wear on any other bracelet.

Here is a quick pic I took with my iMac internal camera just to give an idea.

UNSAT! My black one has lasted for years. Perfect... I would ask watchbuys about it..

I have the black version of your strap on my 356. The strap still looks brand new since the watch was purchased new in Feb 2008. It is a thick strap and requires alot of bending to buckle up. For that reason, you might want to use a deployant clasp which will reduce bending stress on the strap.

However, I imagine that the type of cracks you are seeing should not be normal. I would contact the seller about it. I wonder if you got it wet before.

I read that the Sinn strap is a rebranded Hirsch Trapper.

Do you get your strap wet often? Or using handsanitiser, handcream or ??
What do you do for a job?
I have to agree, that does look weird! So much damage!
Is the flaking thin (like the lacquer flakes off) or thick (the leather delaminates) ?

    The leather definitely delaminates.
