SINN NEWS: THE DIVING STRAP SYSTEM

A situation that many divers are familiar with: the equipment is ready, everything has been checked, the dive can begin. But you are now missing a diving watch as an additional instrument for monitoring the diving time and decompression time. The problem: your diving watch needs to be worn over your wetsuit. But the fact remains that the length of the silicone strap is usually adjusted for wearing directly on the wrist and regular diver extensions are usually inadequate for the necessary additional strap lengths. So what’s to be done? The quick-adjustment strap system.

In the final analysis, the new DuoFlex is a logical solution for a diving extension in combination with the folding clasp with strap-length quick adjustment, which covers the full spectrum – from wearing a watch directly on the wrist to over a dry suit. The DuoFlex is compatible with all U models with a diameter of 44 mm.

Please notice that the various versions of DuoFlex will be available as August 2019. The standard silicone strap is deliverable parallel to the silicone strap for the quick-adjustment strap system. The new folding clasp with strap-length quick adjustment will replaced the previous clasp gradually.

Gee wiz, finally! This was my main complaint with Sinn rubber straps- the old buckles were such a challenge. Thanks for the news, Mike!

Re: SINN NEWS: THE DIVING STRAP SYSTEM

    Very nice addition.

Also a question. Why is it specified for a 44mm watch?

    Edit:
To answer my own question: I read the link and see now that the "system" is more than just a new buckle.
The portion that attacesh to the watch itself appear curved and designed to match the curve of a 44mm watch case.

Further reading/looking show that the strap is clipped on instead of having a pin run through a solid area of watch band.
Do other of you see this as a weakness that could lead o problems?

I actually need one of these about as much as I need a hole in the head but since when did little things like needing something ever interfere with me wanting a gizmo?

SINN NEWS: THE DIVING STRAP SYSTEM

A few more pieces to the puzzle

I can’t wait to see a video on this system. Especially how the end links look form the side. I’m not too sure if I like them?

My understanding is this new clasp is shorter so your existing straps will be too short to use.

I was hoping for a more traditional ratcheting clasp like Seiko, Rolex, Omega...etc

Am I the only one seeing shades of this Tudor monstrosity from Baselworld this year? I’ve wanted a ratcheting clasp for the U1 strap for years, but not like this! Name: 558B771C-1AD0-47C5-B0FA-31E4A7C09984_1566406409255.jpeg

Re: SINN NEWS: THE DIVING STRAP SYSTEM

    Looks finicky to me.
When some a wild-eyed 8 foot tall maniac grabs your neck, taps the back of your favorite head up against the bar room wall and he looks you crooked in the eye and he asked you if you’ve paid your dues, you just stare that big sucker right back in the eye and you remember what ol’ Jack Burton always says at a time like that: Have you paid your dues Jack? “Yessir the check is in the mail”

    Current lineup: ROLEX 126600 Sea-Dweller red-Line. Casio GPR-B1000. Seiko SKX007. Casio PRW-2500. Casio PAW-1500.

It definitely extends the L2L measurements.
I pulled this off Sinn’s IG page.

As mentioned above, a video review will answer so many questions.
