size comparison; Sinn U1 vs Sinn UX

I prefer the U1 but have only ever tried on the UX.
Loved the size of UX, but i am worried about the extra thickness of the U1.
Is the extra thickness enough to make it obvious?

Personally I don't think you will even notice the difference that the extra 1.4mm will make.
The U1 is 113 grams (without strap) verses the 105 grams of the UX (without strap), just 8 grams difference, again not something you would probably notice when wearing it.

I have two U-Series watches, the U2 & U1000. The difference between them is:

U2, 15.5 mm thick and 114 grams (without strap)
U1000 18.0 mm thick and 135 grams (without strap)

I generally can't tell which one I am wearing without looking.

There might be a slight difference in the case back profile between the U1 and UX but I believe you would enjoy either.

I wore my U1 almost daily for about a year before I got my UX. I did notice the weight difference (only slight, and only because I wore the U1 all the time). The sizes/weights are so similar that if one works for you the other will also. However, if you think the U1 may be too big or too heavy, the UX will not work either. I could not tell a difference about the thickness.

Having had the U1 and UX at the same time, and now having a U2, I don't think you'll have a problem with any of the three if the UX works for you. Comparing them back to back, if you're looking for it, you can see the slight difference in height. But, if you wear the UX one day and the U1 another, you'll never know in the real world. If your heart is after the U1, go for it without worry - it's an amazing piece!

Owned and loved the both at the same time. Never noticed size difference personally.
