Spoke to Sinn about the elephant in the room

Spoke to Sinn customer service on three items below. They seemed somewhat surprised with them - which astonished me. They asked I write to head of marketing with my thoughts. Points I spoke on were as follows. At one point they suggested I also copy Lothar but then they said best to start with marketing.

    a. Why an AD would not honor Sinn warranty if watch is not bought from that AD - in effect is Sinn saying warranty is only covered if you ship back to Sinn?
    b. Why is there a 20-25% markup in US AD prices
    c. Why could one not buy Sinn directly from them or freely around the world - why are customers being subjected to higher prices by creation of monopolies?

Can someone here tell me the suggested manufacturer price and VAT amounts for the following sample of Sinn watches please so that I write a lucid email to them?

Sinn 103 St Diapal on Bracelet
Sinn 104A St Sa on Bracelet
Sinn 140 St on Strap SZ-01 Caliber
Sinn 356 Flieger II Sa on Strap
Sinn 756 Diapal Tegmented on Strap
    Sinn EZM 13 on Bracelet
    Sinn EZM 3F on Leather

I am also interested in the response you get from Sinn. It doesn't take a PHD in mathematics to see that prices in the U.S. are not in line with the EU.

Serious question, aside from the longer wait, why not just order from an EU AD and save a couple of hundred bucks?

Nevermind, just looked up an EU AD website. In big letters ' We cannot ship Sinn products outside the EU'. Ah, yeah, that sucks

Call watchbuys... I'm sure they would discuss fully. It is not unusual for imported goods to be higher priced in the US. Not sure what you are trying achieve?

In terms of warranty, few warranties are transferable. If they are, they are rarely warranted by the dealer, and warranted by the manufacturer or service center if applicable.

If Sinn chooses to control the sales of there products and dealer base, why is that an issue? There are plenty of companies that don't allow transcontinental sales/shipment.

    ahkeelt,

You are barking up the wrong tree. Save your time for some other effort.
Sinn dealers set the prices in each country not the factory. It appears the
dealers charge what the market will bear. Though in Germany they stick to
factory MSRP, in other countries they do not.

Why aren't there more dealers in each country? Though the details are private
there is a contract between manufacturers and distributors with terms that
describe what each party agrees to. As we can see those terms preclude
shipping product into another dealer's territory.

Apparently WatchBuys negotiated a good contract at a time Sinn watches
were less popular. WatchBuys provides neither showroom nor service. They
direct warranty claims in the US to RGM Watches (Roland Murphy Watches).
I have had success with Sinn factory service or a German servicing dealer.

    Sinn 756 Diapal Tegmented Lederarmband: € 2830
From your list that would be my choice if it fits the budget.

I've spoken to German retailers that are willing to ship to the US. You can certainly save a few bucks going that route.

I went up there with the annual land rover national rally a few years back: great fun.
