Tegimemted vs Standard U1 Bracelet Advice?

I have always liked the look of the U1 in photos but until today had never seen one.

I am currently in Austria and passed an AD that had a U1 in the window.

I tried it on and really liked it. With the crown at 4 I found it really comfortable and the watch had a real presence without being too big or overpowering. Just a real solid quality feel to it.

I almost bought it. The only reason I didn’t is because it already for some reason had some markings and what looked like a scuff on the clasp.

I know that the clasp will usually be the first thing to scratch and scuff anyway but it should be perfect from new in my opinion.

My question is, does the fully tegimemted version including the bracelet and clasp make a big difference in real world use for example every day desk diving, is will the tegimemted clasp become scratched and scuffed in such use regardless.

Is it worth paying the extra?

Six months with my fully tegimented U1, and it looks new. I can’t compare it directly with the regular U1, but other stainless watches I own get banged and scratched up almost from new. Not abused, just little things that accumulate over time. Another thing to consider is that the tegimented version is somewhat darker. In all, I think that the tegimented version is worth the premium.

Pay the extra. You’ll be removing the “if only...” feeling at the very least.

Yes. It's definitely worth the extra money if you can spare it. That said, don't expect the tegimented versions to NEVER scratch. They very well might develop scratches over time depending on how you use it. That said, if you are reasonably careful they do tend to hold up quite well (much better than the regular steel, no doubt).

Re: Tegimemted vs Standard U1 Bracelet Advice?

I ordered a standard U1 bracelet for my standard U1 a few days ago. Watchbuy called me and wanted to confirm about the order and the guy i spoke to strongly suggested to get the teg version instead due to the negligible price difference. When i received the bracelet and installed it, oh man he is right. Itís a lot better. After a week of use, flawless.

Re: Tegimemted vs Standard U1 Bracelet Advice?

....its hard, really hard to get scratches in tegimented steel.
But on the other hand: if you really manage it to produce one there is little change to get it removed without destroying the tegimented layer.
Thats much easier on the non-tegimented version.

So I prefer tegimented SINNs, but not for my daily rocker.....

I canít believe it still looks like that after a year. Fairly normal wrist time, or only on special occasions?

I didnít know anything about the ďTegimentedĒ option until recently. Definitely seems worth it based on your pic (provided that you actually wear it ).

I’ve done it. After much deliberation I’ve pulled the trigger on a fully tegimented U1. In the world of watches I know this isn’t an overly expensive watch but it’s a big purchase for me and now I’m looking forward to receiving and wearing it. I really like its unique look and I don’t think it can be mistaken for anything other than what it is. Quite excited now.
