    U series AR coating hardness

Still very much in my 'honeymoon' period with my U2. Got up this morning thought of putting on the Ingenieur but somehow my hands naturally reached for the U2

Anyway, I was going thru some of the materials during my research and came upon a statement by Sinn that the AR coating on the U2 is 1800HV.

    quote in verbatim
"Extra hard anti-reflective coating of 1800HV on the outside"

My question is how this is done, tegiment ? ...is that even possible to do that on a crystal.

The bezel (sub. steel) is Tegimented.
AR coating, no idea! But it sure is hard! After 1.5 year of beach use- not a scratch!
Before I had my eyes "lazered", I wore glasses with plastic lenses. They needed to be AR treated to get a more scratch resistant surface.

slightly OT, i thought U1 has the same AR coating hardness but seems like its less scratch resistant than the U2's coating

Can it be the shape of the crystal?

I used to have a U1 I really liked it, but the AR got scratched WAY two easy.

It made me sad so I sold it.
