    U1 with Date Magnifier

I have this modified U1 inbound from a buddy in AZ. I'm always looking for something different in my watches and this looked very cool to me.

    Sorry, no way for me.....

Because: One (really one) reason for the U-series from Sinn is, to get a sport- or diver watch (or universal) with an unique design. As we all know, nearly all dive watches copy the R*l*x design. And my opinion is: Buy the original (too expansive for me) or leaf it. And this means: No fake or similar design.

Therefore I own a Stowa Seatime and the U2. This models copys not this design.

And now: To have the wonderful U1 and copy the date magnifier from R*l*x?

No way, for the second time. And a 2nd point: This "thing" destroys the fine design form the dial.

    cheers

I honestly can't believe someone would do that. Is this a joke? :-S

I'm not particularly enamoured with that mod myself. The thing I like about Sinn is that they are so un-Rolex. Not saying anything bad about Rolex, I have respect for rolex but with so many copying them, Sinn's styling is refreshing.

The small date window is there on purpose....not to distract from the clarity of the dial. Putting a cyclops on seems to me...counter-productive to the mission statement the U1 makes.

Everyone's different though and I respect your reasons PUG. Could you put some better pics up when you get it? That would be cool.

    cheers,
    Tim

You better say nothing bad about Rolex :-D

If you don´t like the magnifier, go for a SD, or Sub no Date.
I´ve bought one (Sub. Date, last week). Very nice clear design!

    Hello Pugridiron,

I've noticed you've been flipping watches rather quickly, perhaps looking for "The One". It seems as though you've been through the entire Sinn lineup and back again. I am curious as to what order you would index your watches by overall satisfaction level, and the pros or cons of each. Also, is this new score a keeper?

I admire anyone who bravely customizes a watch so that it suits his ideas. Mind you, I wouldn't customize a Rembrandt or a Gericault, but a watch is a tool for the user.

    Yes, I have owned much of the current Sinn watch line-up: 103 A Sa Hd, 103 Ti Ar UTC, 256 Ta, 356 Flieger, 657, 756, 815, 856 (twice), 903, 8828 Ti, EZM2, U1 (3 times), U2 (twice), and UX (I wish).

The 856 is probably the nicest watch of the the non-chronograph group. Love the look of the dial, the UTC feature, and the case tegiment technology. The 103 A Sa Hd was my favorite Sinn chronograph, as it's just very classy with the whit sub-dials. The U1 is my favorite Sinn diver, although I want to wear the UX before I say that for sure.
