White Markers on a Sinn 857 UTC?

    Hi,

I'm looking at reacquiring a Sinn 857. There is one available but, interestingly, the UTC numbers are white as is the UTC pointer rather than the more customary yellow.

Was this ever usual on the 857? I have found only one internet pic from a German site that shows similar markings.

    Thanks!

    Deacon

Other than the Testaf version, every 857UTC that I've seen has white UTC numbers but with a yellow UTC hand. I've never seen a white UTC hand. That's interesting if it came from the factory that way.

I wish that Sinn made one with the UTC numbers the same yellow color as the hand; That would make it much easier to read (Similar to the way the 857 UTC Testaf or the U2 has matching colors for UTC).

Here's a shot from a German website that shows another with a white hand.

Never seen others except these two shots.

Think I like the yellow better too.

White Markers on a Sinn 857 UTC?

I owned an 857 S UTC with hand painted white. Seller told me it was done by watchmaker in Germany.

I doubt it would be hard to replicate by competent watchmaker.

Would like to see a custom 857 with red hands like the U2.
We stole the Eagle from the Air Force; the Anchor from the Navy; the Rope from the Army, and on the seventh day when God rested, we overran His perimeter and
stole the Globe, and have been protecting our shores ever since.

Interesting. I've never seen one with a white UTC hand. Mine has the standard yellow hand. I suspect others in this thread are correct and this was either a customization done by Sinn or was done aftermarket. I actually prefer the little bit of color that the yellow hand adds to the dial.

Wow, good eye! I didn't notice that on either of the two photos.
