Fortis Cosmonaut 602.22.142 (Lamenia 5100) - Good deal?

    Hey everyone,

I've found a Cosmonaut 602.22.142 for sale with the Lamenia 1500 movement and tachymeter bezel. The seller is asking $1900USD. Is this a reasonable price for this item? Is it better to hold off and wait for one with a rotating bezel?

Watch is in 'good' condition, visible scuffs on the bezel but nothing crazy (picture is just a random I pulled from google for reference)

Anyways, I have a hard time not throwing money at things, but this time I thought I'd come here to ask first and make sure I'm not getting ripped off.

Fortis Cosmonaut 602.22.142 (Lamenia 5100) - Good deal?

Disclaimer: my knowledge is limited here.
However I have been eying these watches for a while now, and values are clearly on the up.
If it’s in good condition, but it lacks the bracelet and the rotating bezel, then
I think it’s just above fair value. But if you take a couple of hundred dollars off then it starts to get more sensible.

Does it come with box and papers? Will you need to pay any import duties or high postage costs? These will affect the over all value proposition.

Hey Tantric, definitely chose the worst photo to post. The watch does come with a bracelet/box/papers, but yes still lacks the rotating bezel.

Another option is a NEW one going for $3100USD with a rotating bezel.

I think you’re paying a tad too much for used. That’s just my opinion considering where a brand new Fortis sits. I know the Lemania movement has a bit of a cult following but if it’s not important to you then I would buy new but seek a good discount on it which will bring it closer to the used price of $1900.

Can you ask the seller to send you pictures of the watch?

Post it and you may get more responses. I am not an expert on all thing Fortis except that I like the brand and check into the forum once in a while.

Rule #1 is buy the seller. So, make sure the seller is reputable or you might end up with a useless paperweight.

Hey, I've gotten my models mistaken, it's actually the 606.22.142 I'm looking at. I'm kind of attached to the Lemania movement mainly because of the central minutes/seconds of the chrono....plus I like the size and color scheme compared to most modern chronos. Seller is asking $1950 euros and isnt budging. Here's a picture of the actual watch.Name: 18.jpg

Well, I will have a go seeing that no one has answered this....

    1. I went to their website to have a look. It looks like a proper shop in Spain and they trade on Chrono24.

    2. I believe that, that model posted is one of those more desirable ones with Lemania movement and countdown timer bezel.

    3. Watch doesn’t look fake as some of the fake ones have poor crown etching and engraved casebacks - but I could be wrong. You do have warranty from them though.

    4. Price still high for a used Fortis but if you truly desire it...

Things to take note of; Fortis was near bankruptcy towards the end of 2017 (reason why I held off buying anything) and had undergone a corporate restructuring, which might affect serviceability and future spares.

Also, I recall reading a thread where someone complained about problems with the screw in crown. You might have to search the other threads for this.

Too expensive. Will ask for $700 off from that price.

Wound up buying the 632.22.141 which has the 7750 movement instead of the Lemania.

At first I was a little butthurt about that, but then realized the 7750 is going more supported/serviceable these days. This model has the count up/count down bezel which is pretty awesome.

Wound up getting the whole 'fly away' kit all in for $1670 USD. Very happy with how it all worked out.
