HI everyone, new to the forum and back to Zenith after 10 Years away!

In 2009 I sold most of my watch collection due to a young family and wanting to move house. This included an Chronomaster XXT open reserve de march. I loved this watch but hated that it never had a date function. Which is why the only watch I kept at the time was an A.Lange Datograph. When I bought the XXT the model I really wanted was the Grande Date, day and night moonphase... but I just couldn't get one locally. However last week I managed to get hold of a brand new old stock one from a Zenith retailer and I absolutely love it! I realise some of the Nataf era watches are not to everybody's tastes but I think this one is a keeper! I find the complication of background of the moon phase turning from night to day a nice touch to the detail of the watch. Anyone else have this model?

I would like to get another Zenith sometime this year maybe sportier like a Defy Aero or Rainbow Flyback.

Welcome to the Watchuseek Zenith forum! That watch may look like something from the Nataf era and be based on models from around that time; the movement came out, however, after Nataf had been replaced by Dufour as CEO. Personally, I am not too interested in the "Open" models (of any kind - Frederique Constant started the trend around the year 2000) but do respect the fact that others are. And as far as that is concerned, this is one of the better models of that type. Congratulations!

Thanks... I never new that that about the movement. My original XXT open had the 4021 movement and looked very similar in design. I just assumed that they were all from the Nataf era. I must find out a bit more about the production dates of the 4027.

I personally really like that version of the Chronomaster. It’s true that the stepped bezel, needle hands and patrician design are a bit at odds with the open dial and high beat sport chronograph nature of the El Primero. But contrasts and tension are interesting. Congratulations! I’d love to own one personally.

The Cal. 4021 had a power reserve in the middle and lacked date and sun/moon indication. Now that one definitely was a Nataf model!

Beautifully lit, like islands of interest in a dark pool at full moon.

This one is really old old stock. Stunning watches. Have you seen the newer version Grande Open Date?
