My First Zenith—New Zenith El Primero 38mm

Guys, I wanted to stop-by and share my latest acquisition. I have a fairly healthy Rolex collection, but I saw this watch and my interest was piqued due to the Daytona/Zenith connection. I have to be honest.....there is SO MUCH to love about this watch. I love the size. The crystal is awesome the way it appears so thick like a vintage. The clear caseback is fantastic. One of the greatest things??? The non-screw down pushers. I find that I use the chrono function much more often since I don’t have to fiddle with unscrewing collars on pushers like my Daytona. It’s truly a fabulous watch. I love itName: 4InMjp8.jpg

Looks great, congrats! Fantastic pictures, too.

The more I look at Zenith, the more I want to add one myself.

Love it, congrats! Do you know your wrist size? I had a 42mm Chronomaster that wore too large, curious about this size. Thanks

    Right at 7”

    I’m glad you asked.

So......I’ve owned many different watches and sizes over the years......the biggest of which was a 48.4mm Breitling Super Avenger (comically large for me) and the smallest being a 36mm. I made an unwritten rule for myself several years ago that I WILL NOT buy a watch > 40mm again. Can I wear them? Sure, but I just don’t like the way they look and feel on my wrist. I love the Rolex Skydweller, but I will never buy/own one due to its 42mm size. I sold a Tudor BB (41mm) and a Pelagos (42mm) due to their size. I liked the watches, but I would always grab something smaller out of the watch box.

Seriously, I think at 38mm this EP is the perfect size for me. It has been surprisingly very well received in my collection. I don’t really have much that I don’t like other than the lack of screw-down crown and lack of quick-set date.......but then at least it has a date unlike my Daytona.

That’s a very nice way to say you don’t care for the strap.

I have the original bracelet, but I am playing around with leather straps. I will try several different ones before I come up with the one I like. This is ok for now. Quality is superb.

Congrats! Glad to see you like it. Zenith has so much history and definitely beats a normal chrono watch with the 1/10th of a second timing. Wear it in good health

I never realized how much nicer it would be to not have screw down collars on the pushers. It really does make it a complication that I tend to use now. I never really used it before with my Daytona or the other few chronos I’ve had other than the novelty of it.
