    Zenith Autosport 28800

Just love my 70s Zeniths .... anyone know if the blue dialed one (top centre) was an actual model in the round case (not seen many for sale- I also have a gold coloured one) the writing on it is in silver rather than the white I see on most dials? Does anyone know the kind of price range these Autosport 28800 were in the 70s?Name: 20190508_175219.jpg

Welcome to the forum. Nice collection! The blue one, does it have a case number or a model code? Around 1973 Zenith still made some autoSports.

Shortly after Zenith dropped the 'autoSport' on the dial altogether. In February 1976, a plain automatic like this with cal 2562 PC or 2572 PC was the best bargain in the Zenith catalog (apart from handwounds) and could be had for 248 DM (on a leather band), that is about 127 EUR.

    Hope this helps.

290 (or, more correctly, 29.0) is the internal Zenith code for the Cal. 2562 PC. The mixture of star on the dial and the use of the new reference number (rather than case serial number) shows that the watch is from ca. 1972-73.

Very nice dial, in very good condition. Sometimes blue dials from this period have degraded or lost color but this is in good condition. Case style (1281) is also original.

The dial has the same kind of 'metallic' (don't know the technical term!) finish as the silver and gold version (doesn't really show on the pics) which changes shade depending how the light hits it can be dark or bright - the dial also has the writing in silver when most blue dialled Autosports I have seen have it in white (I think the silver writing looks better) - it does have small scratches in the centre where someone has been at the hands in the past but they are small, faint and mostly hidden by the hands - a shame though and does annoy me sometimes as the rest of the dial is perfect . Both the silver and gold version has the case style '1280' on the back but I can't see a difference in them
