Zenith Elite with minute hand detached

So I have an opportunity to purchase a Zenith at a discount due to the minute hand being detached.

I haven’t seen it in hand yet. All I have is a pic.

What do you think is involved for a neighborhood watchmaker to fix this? Is it a large investment to repair? Is this a tell tale to something of a larger issue?

Also, box and no papers. It would be authenticated at purchase.

It's hard to say without seeing the watch in person.

Yeah. I guess it’s a bit of a risk. Hoping someone has seen something to say like, “it’s due to xyz and it could run between $$ to $$$.” That way I can make an offer with the repair in mind. Might have to pass or low ball.

It could be as simple as the having the hand pressed back on. My concern is what caused the hand to come off. My son dropped a Speedmaster a good 3 feet onto a tile floor and the hands came lose, but did not come off.

Note that the power reserve indicator is also pointing into nowhere. And I can't find a single picture of that model with a straight "automatic" print on the dial. I'm not a Zenith expert, but that's more than enough red flags for my taste.

Edit: now that I compare it more closely, there are several even more obvious differences. It's a fake.

The loose hand and misplaced power reserve indicator may also indicate the watch was taken apart and hurriedly reassembled. I too would run.

How would you authenticate the watch at purchase?

This watch would be purchased off a website that facilitates authentication. Watch goes from seller to be authenticated and then on to the purchaser.
