I just bought a Zenith bracelet (made by NSA?) for my vintage Respirator. Unfortunately it was a bit too short and it wears very tight on my wrist. So few questions:

    1) Is it possible to get some extra links for this bracelet model?
    2) Is there a longer version of this bracelet model? This is about 15 cm long.

Sure, the NSA bracelet can be made shorter or longer, it is not easy, however a good watchmaker can handle the job. There is a specialised seller on e-Bay who sells links for the different types of NSA-bracelets. Or you can try to source some extra links yourself.

Basically, the NSA bracelet should have the same standard size as any other vintage bracelet, which means that yours was probably shortened in the past.

Is it a Respirator? It looks like a pre-Respirator model, as it does not have the name on the dial.

Ok, good to know. I try to find some extra links.

Yes, that might be true. Although two of these were on sale on ebay and both were 15 cm, but maybe both were shortened.

Yes, it does not say Respirator but what would be difference between these pre-Respirators and "real Respirators"? I would say that nothing else than text "Respirator" on the dial. I assume that this has also case made by Epsa and everything else is also the same than on Respirators. Or do you know that there is some difference?

One Finnish Zenith expert has wrote on his webpages that Zenith would have made these first without "Respirator" text on the dial.

Exactly. If I remember correctly the 'Respirator' name was introduced in 1968, so yours might date to to 1966 or '67. Case number and movement number and numbers inside the case could clarify the production date. Congratulations anyway! And it looks good on the original bracelet.

Yes, 1964-1968 there was no "Respirator" text on the dial. I guess mine could be from 1965 becouse on the back of the case is an engraving that celebrates 100 years old Zenith. It was engraved by a Finnish retailer.

So the case number was removed? It could indeed be a cal 2532 PC from 1965, considering also the style of the hands.

Actually case number is still very easy to see: 391AXXX.

Yes, that should be a cal 2532 PC from ca. 1965. Let us know when you have it opened.

I bought it from a watchmaker who had opened it before selling it and actually it has cal. 2542 PC, my favourite movement.

You got me there. 2542 PC is also very well possible. Thanks for the information.

Once I saw one of these 1965 'pre-respirators' with cal 2552 PC, but that was definitely a replaced movement.
