Zenith's Most Ambitious Release to Date is at Topper!

If you've been following Zenith's release arc this year, you likely already know about the pitch-perfect El Primero re-issue box set, or maybe about the super-cool El Primero A384 heritage re-issue. But arguably, the most significant news this year out of Zenith's camp has been that of the new Defy Inventor – the direct descendent, and fully industrialized sequel to the ultra-limited, ultra high-frequency Defy Lab concept piece from 2017, whose 15 Hz movement was designed to make it the world's most accurate watch.

Only 10 Defy Lab watches were ultimately produced, but everything Zenith learned from that revolutionary technology has been applied to the new Inventor, which manages to increase the frequency rate and overall stability, and thereby accuracy of what was already an astonishingly accurate watch.

What made the Defy Lab – and by extension, the new Inventor special, is the Zenith Oscillator, which is a single silicon component that's been engineered to pull triple duty, integrating three of the watch's key elements: the balance spring, lever, and balance wheel, into just one entirely new element that vibrates at an incredible 129,600 beats per hour – 18 Hz, compared to the 15 Hz of the original Defy Lab.

For as often as we say a watch must be seen in the metal to be fully appreciated, the Zenith Defy Inventor's ultra high-frequency Cal. 9100 movement beats in a frenetic manner that simply must be seen to be believed. To do just this, we invite you to join us on August 1st at 6:30pm as Topper and Zenith will give guests the chance to go hands-on with the radical new Defy Inventor and peer through its dramatic openworked dial, as well as check out the El Primero A384 heritage re-issue. Speaking of the El Primero, we'll have refreshments, a special raffle for attendees, and will be hoisting champagne to celebrate the legendary movement's 50th Anniversary, and we'd love to have you join us. Click here to RSVP to guarantee your spot, as all summer, our WatchtheBay-hosted events have been immensely popular, and fill up quickly.

Thanks for the advance notice - I wish I could come! Once more, the great pond separates us.

Those are two great watches that would certainly make an attendance worthwhile. I don't generally like these modern skeletized dial watches but for that one, I'd make an exception. I presume that it's the "Inventor" (running at 18Hz), not one of the ten "Labs" (running at 15Hz)?!

Good luck with the event and I hope you have a full house!

I am super excited about the Inventor. It seems like a useful invention that could have significant impact on the watch industry in the future.

Anyone know how much the Inventor will cost?

I was fortunate enough to have gone to the Topper event and tried on the Inventor. It's a big, thick, substantial piece, not for me style-wise but I appreciate the technology and craftsmanship. From the skeleton view, you can see the very fast oscillations of the movement, it looks like the flapping wings of a hummingbird.

I kind of view of the Inventor as a high-end prestige piece for Zenith to show off some of their more advanced technologies, which hopefully will one day percolate down to their more affordable offerings.
