Picture Zenith's visit to Amsterdam - many pictures

Last week I was invited by Schaap + Citroen Jewelers and Zenith Watches to a Zenith event in Amsterdam, and boy, did I have a great time!

The event was organized at a super location in Amsterdam: restaurant De Kas. You may or may not have heard about it, because it is not in the touristic centre. But if you are ever in Amsterdam (again), get on the tram #9 from the central station and stop at the Middenweg to cross the bridge over the small river and have yourselves treated with a great atmosphere and excellent food and drinks.

But let's get back to Zenith. It was no surprise to meet Jean-Frederique Dufour, because I knew he was there and would do the presentation. Besides being a pleasure to meet him again, I was surprised to see Cedric, Maud and Mr. Dufour's 2nd man there too. It felt like a family visit to me

After a nice coffee and chat we were invited to go to the other room for the presentation. Mr. Dufour told us about the rich history of Zenith (and the "black hole" as he described it) and what he changed when he signed up as the CEO back in 2009. Back to History might sum up what he did, and in my humble opinion, he did good.

He also challenged us to name another brand like Zenith that produces watches with in-house movements in a price range from 4000 to 10,000. Well, I'm happily passing his question on to you, our respected members and Zenith enthusiasts.

Time to show you some pictures (© Dimer van Santen / Watchuseek 2013):

And of course the starring role was for the El Primero watches. Here's a collage:

Many thanks, Ernie, for the write up. I only wish that I could have been there myself. As for watches with in-house movements at around 4000 (CHF? $$? Euros?), you still get those - but they are getting rarer and they certainly don't have chronographs with other complications on top.

Thanks for the pictures Ernie. Makes me wish they had something similar like that in the United States.

But he is correct. There are not too many choices in that category, and certainly fewer when taking their background into account.

    Cheers!
