This beautiful piece is a 1970 Seiko Lord Marvel 5740-8000 with a manual wind movement that ticks at 36000bph. This is Seiko's answer to the high beat hype of the '60s and '70s. Bought this from another WUS user last year and it has sat well-protected in my watch display case since then. The watch is fully original with the exception of the strap. The dial, crystal, case, caseback, crown and hands are all original. This watch was serviced once by the previous owner in 2009, but no record of any service since then. Other than a Seiko Spring Drive model, this has one of the smoothest sweeping seconds I've ever seen. For a 46 year old piece, it has aged marvelously. There are a couple of spots on the very edge of the dial, but they're minor and don't affect about 98% of the watch face. NO FADING at all of the dial or letters. Also note: the watch had a little bit of lint on it while taking the pictures and those reflected on the crystal...they are not scratches, it is just lint.
