|Caravelle Sea Hunter 666 Feet “Devil Diver” watch from the 60s. Caravelle, a division of Bulova watch company, produced this striking watch with minimalist no date dial. Large enough case size to be relevant today and fantastic looks just like a very well know watch worn by Mount Everest Explorers. This reference has gotten a lot of press just this year and I would not be surprised to see ones in this condition continue to increase in value.
Case is stainless steel, unpolished and original. 36.7mm without the crown. Lugs are 20mm. Oyster bracelet looks to be a later addition, not original, unsigned, but fits 6.5”-7.75” wrist.
Dial and “M6” stamp on caseback indicates this is the first year production (1966). This dial is the rarest with “Waterproof” and “666 Feet” as well as Dauphine hands and tritium lume. Dial, hands, and lume are all untouched and in incredible shape, I have yet to see another this nice. All scratches are on the crystal.
Crystal is the original high dome crystal. Very clear but has scratches from wear. Acrylic crystal can be easily polished to look new again but I have left it as is.
Movement is original Caravelle/Citizen cal. 11 DP manual-winding movement (17 jewels); 18,000 BPH. Running well, keeping excellent time, with no known issues. Winding is smooth and enjoyable with clear feedback from the mainspring. “You dont HAVE to wind it, you GET to wind it.” ;)
Condition of this watch is vintage and used. It looks and works great but service history is unknown. The watch’s slide bezel assembly comes with it but is missing the bezel insert. I prefer the look of it without. Thanks for your interest.
