FS: Omega Speedmaster 105.003-65, cal. 321, 1965, straight lug, original stepped dial, pre-Professional dial in excellent condition and recently serviced.
Photos: An extensive array of photos can be found here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0Bw...Tk4TEFmNzVWcDQ. These include photos taken during the watch’s recent service and photos taken with a macro lens to show each aspect of the watch’s condition in great detail.
Dial: Great condition dial with all the markers intact. Stepped dial with no signs of damage or degradation.
Hands: The lume is missing from most hands. This can be sympathetically restored but I have chosen not to do this, preferring to leave the watch in as original condition as possible.
Case: The case is in good condition and the lugs are sharp. There are a few marks around the bezel and lugs so please study the photographs carefully. The macro lens does show every blemish. In reality, the watch looks stunning.
Pushers & Crown: Both original.
Bezel: The DON bezel is outstanding. I’ve not seen many better in my years of collecting vintage Omega watches.
Movement: Cal 321. This has been beautiful cleaned and serviced as the accompanying photographs show.
Service: The watch was cleaned and serviced last week by Simon Freese (a leading specialist in Omega watches). See below for further details. The watch comes with an 18 month warranty with Simon Freese Watchmakers. The watch has not been polished and is in its original condition.
Strap/Bracelet: I am including an unbranded bracelet in the sale. I do have a 1171 bracelet with 663 end links available for sale if the buyer wants to make an offer on this to go with the watch.
Case Back: The hippocampus engraving is visible but the original owner had the watch inscribed. I have not had this removed.
Reason for sale: I bought this watch from the previous owner and I’m in the lucky position of having this plus an original cal.861 Speedmaster from my birth year (1969). I’ll be keeping that and, to be honest, I’ve got second thoughts about selling this one as I think prices will continue to rise. But, I’ve got my eyes on a new Rolex stainless steel SkyDweller and I’m first on the list at my Rolex AD. These are coming in next month. So, reluctantly, I’m selling this to raise funds.
Price: £11,000 by bank transfer (+4% for PayPal). This includes shipping within the UK. International shipping by arrangement with the purchaser and at your cost. I’d prefer a face to face deal and I’m located in south Cheshire, UK, but regularly travel to Manchester. I am prepared to travel to meet you if needed. Message me to discuss.
This price is based on the pricing contained within the Speedmaster101 | How To Buy An Omega Speedmaster website: Price Chart | Speedmaster101. I have reduced the price of the watch a little due to the inscription on the case back and the lack of lume on the hands of the watch. Although I could have had both of these issues ‘corrected’ during the recent servicing of the watch, I have decided to keep this piece in its original form. The new owner can decide what, if any, further work needs to be done on the watch but my advice would be to keep this as an original piece.
The watch has been cleaned and serviced last week by Simon Freese at his new watchmaking business. Previously, Simon worked at Swiss Time Services Ltd, the UK's largest Watch Service Centre, as Workshop Manager for 15 years. During this time Simon become well known as an Omega Specialist, repairing and restoring many significant watches for collectors, utilising his own knowledge and experience to ensure that each watch received an appropriate level of repair and conservation. In 2016 Simon received recognition for his work with Swiss Time Services when he was included in the Watch Pro Hot 100 list. Simon's work has been showcased extensively online, where reviews can be found on specialist Forums, such as The Omega Forum, TZUK and WatchuSeek. Personally, I would not trust anyone else with my Omega watches and, as the photographs show, Simon has done a brilliant job cleaning and servicing this particular watch. I have a photographic record of the work done by Simon (a sample of which is available on the photographs with this advertisement) and paperwork confirming the work will be supplied with the watch.
Here are a selection of photos but many more can be found through following the link at the top of this thread:
