At the end of the 1960s, Roamer had found popularity in a line of watches under the “Stingray S” series, and wanted to expand the line into chronographs. The Roamer Stingray “Chrono-Diver” and “Jet-Time” watches were launched in 1970, and further updated in 1971 to include date functions using the Valjoux 7734 movement. Production of these watches ran for only 2 years, as the Stingray CD and JT lines were halted by 1973. The remainder of the Stingray Chronograph line was cut soon after, and by 1975 the name “Stingray” had been dropped altogether from Roamer’s advertising and wouldn’t be seen again until 2012.
