For sale is my 1960s Wittnauer Skin Diver Reference 4000. I’ve loved owning this hard-to-find classic, but I just purchased another vintage diver and want to move this one to a new home.
The Skin Diver 4000 is a perfect example of how mid-century Wittnauer understood the importance of durability and aesthetics. The 4000 featured a rugged stainless-steel case with thick, faceted lugs to allow for easy wear, and to hold up in rigorous activities. The rich black dial and enlarged tritium indices, numerals, and hands made it easy to read. Best of all, it offered a beautiful domed plexiglass crystal that remains in very good shape today. Case and bezel are worn in just the right way to show its story. Service history unknown, but it keeps good time--no assurances on water resistance. Comes on after-market tropix watch strap.
Case: Stainless steel; 38mm diameter; 11mm thickness
Movement : Manual-winding C11-KS-1
Dial : Matte black with tritium
