Backlight not working on G-SHOCK MTG-910

I really like this watch and have had it since 2009. It works fine and the solar battery charges to full. However the back-light has failed. The watch is very dirty, and I wondered if it might just be grime stopping the button from operating correctly. Anyway, I was hoping to take it apart and attempt to fix it. (I found a good tutorial here on this site) However, I don't yet know how the back-light works or whether it is an integral part of the module and cannot be replaced separately. And if it can, whether the part would still be available. Hoping someone here can give me an answer.

Since this is a G-Shock, you might get more response in the G-Shock forum.

Do other 3 buttons still work correctly?
    Ball - Casio (G-shock) - HMT - Longines - Parnis - Seagull - Steinhart - Tissot - Victorinox - Yema
