As it goes a couple of weeks ago I stumbled across the Orient hammerhead which has been out for some time however I struggled to find a comprehensive review on the watch anywhere online so I though it would share my thoughts on this.
I'm not a writer so I'm just trying to get down to pure facts on what I'm seeing first hand lol
Before I kick it off I got the hammerhead delivered brand new for $102aud so I though it was worth a stab in the dark.
There are also 4 other variants of the hammerhead.
Firstly online you mainly see this generic picture, which really does not do justice to the amazing dial on this watch.
I tried to capture the dial as best I could.
I also think it has a great wrist presence
I will need to get back to you all on accuracy as it just got on my wrist as we speak.
60 click unidirectional bezel which to me feels strong and sturdy with crisp clicks
It does have quickset date however lacks quickset day.
The hammerhead does not hack or hand wind and it does not have a screw down crown but for the price point I can't complain.
The crown is at 4 o'clock which for a watch with a case diameter of 43mm is welcomed.
I did see this for sale on the bay for over $200aud and at that price point I would start to question what you are really getting.
Now I might just be very picky but I think the bracelet is poor, folded steel, just feels flimsily, very rattly and just overall bad.
If anyone can suggest a decent budget solid steel bracelet I am on the hunt.
So all in all for $102aud I am impressed with this watch, looking at adding a budget solid bracelet which I hope to keep this whole endeavour under $150aud.
If you can pick this timepiece up for a decent price sub $110 I would definitely recommend, however prices I've seen on the bay I would say give it a pass as there are far superior Orient's that can be had for the $200-$250 price point.
Hope this helps those in the future looking for an Orient hammerhead
