Adjust new 50th Anniversary BOR bracelet? Any tricks?

I know there shouldn't be - but I've already deformed the included screwdriver trying to remove a link? I've ordered a replacement screwdriver and a Bergeon third hand. Do they have locktite or similar or are they just tiny/tough? Also since they only appear to have a slot on one end what keeps the pin from turning as I apply pressure? Sorry for the newbie questions but I'm not familiar with the BOR construction. Thanks.

It's not you, the screws are really, really tight. You can try heating it with a hair dryer, and that usually works, but mine were so tight I ended up having to take mine to the local jeweler, after mangling my screwdriver. The jeweler even had trouble getting them out.

Yeah I had to file down the screwdriver after it broke on me twice. once the screwdriver blade thickened up from being filed down I was able to unscrew them. The ends of the screws on mine had a touch of white(teflon maybe?) in the threads. Be patient and use some tape to prevent scratches. Or Order a better Bergeron screwdriver and you should be good.

    Hoorah Sergeant Devil Dog!

Mine were pretty tight, but luckily I didn't break the screwdriver. I found that if the beads of rice bracelet is moving around a bit and the individual beads are not lined up perfectly with each other, that seems to put a bit of extra tension on the pins making it harder to remove them. If you happen to have one of those slotted watch bracelet blocks, this is one of those times they are actually useful.

I found that seating the screwdriver tightly (I hold "inward" pressure when I do this) allows me to grip the screw with the tool, and it "snaps" open, if that makes sense. I have had lesser experiences with these bracelets in the past, so my method is a practiced one :)

I had no trouble doing this to the new Sub 300 bracelet, and had it adjusted in about 10 minutes

    Good luck!

Here is a photo of the trick I will use. It works every time.

This is a dive watch, so there is a little thread lock compound applied to to keep the screws from backing out, so be very careful and patient in order not to slip, also a little heat from a hair dryer is usually enough to loosen soften the compound and make the screws easier to remove. If in doubt, take to a watchmaker, he will be able to undo the screw and adjust the bracelet in no time.

    Thanks,
