Any news on a NUMA Sub?

Really seems like a great idea... Keeps coming up in posts by forumers... Keeps getting the cold shoulder from the powers that be.

Doxa's history is in large part based upon introducing new divewatch dial colors.

    ORANGE! IT'S THE NEW BLACK!

When's the last time Doxa introduced a new color?

Great news about Dr Cussler's foreword for Doc Pete's book! & Dr Cussler has ideas of his own about the merits of various dial colors...

Our own forum talent has rendered some Fantastic ideas!

I certainly don't pretend to be a maketing whiz! But there's no denying the obvious ties between Doxa and Dr Cussler. How could an endeavor that publicises and popularizes both be bad for anyone?

It just seems like such a natural.

I loves those NUMA's.........need them before the returning customer discount runs out. This would be a nice little perk for the customers that have supported Doxa prior to the retail move. Come on Doxa.....throw the dogs a bone.

Thumbs Up Re: Any news on a NUMA Sub?

WOW ! Danny S -- As a newbie to this forum I don't know anything about the history )or politics) of this, but it's awesome looking. If turquoise & purple are what the good Dr. recommend then let's honor his colors. I love the NUMA logo on the dial. Thanks for sharing this - it's exciting! :thanks

That NUMA 750 is Graeme's work. Anybody remember his Irishstar?

The turquoise and purple (or not) look good, and are NUMA colors, but Dirk Pitt always wears an orange faced Doxa. If they do a NUMA edition, I'd sure like to see the Pro as at least an option. The NUMA logo would be a great replacement for the conspicuously missing USD logo of old.

Hi Guys, thanks for the praise, but Greg Bottle did the "Irish Star"

I did however make the NUMA Sub, and it got me into a bit of trouble with the DOXA Guys.
And if I remember correctly Doxa also said it would never be made.
    Pity, I really liked it.

Re: Any news on a NUMA Sub?

I'll take Cussler's suggestion for turquoise and purple as high viz, with a grain of salt. I understand the thinking behind it, since they are the last two colors of the spetrum, but that's about it. Underwater watch visibility is about contrast, not color.

I've even looked all over the net for the study that backs up the purple and turquoise thing. No mention at all.

Cussler can spin a good tale but his understanding of diving physics and physiology, is quite lacking. He doesn't seem to know much more than a basic open-water student. That's why I have trouble reading his books, because I am constantly saying to myself "there's no way in hell". I guess I'm too much of a stickler for technical details.

I would like to see a NUMA themed diver, but leave the purple for those diamond-encrusted "ladies" models...

Re: Any news on a NUMA Sub?

The NUMA logo would be great as a replacement of the old US divers logo,

However, I am with Subcrawler, "turquoise dial and purple lettlering????" Seriously would someone wear that? Down here you would certainly be considered bent. (Not that there is anything wrong with that). Definately not a blokes colour choice.
Maybe a slightly lighter shade of blue and purple lume markers could work, but still it would not be something I would regularly wear if not buy at all.

I have also looked into the net and found nothing from where this research can be empirically based. I have found nothing at all....... As a master diver who regularly see's 60 meter depths in low viz (I am not in Subcrawlers league though) I also beleive it is all about contrast. I appreciate colour spectrums and refractions of light in low viz but I still don't buy it.

I think the colours DOXA works with are right, maybe another colour could be introduced, can't think of what it would be though.

    Just my 2c
