Is it Blasphemy for your first Doxa to be another color vs Orange?

Is it Blasphemy for your first Doxa to be another color vs Orange?

I am considering a SharkHunter vs the traditional Orange professional Doxa models for my first one. Is it a mortal sin to do so? All jokes and kidding aside, I want to know if there are any reasons to own the Orange first over the other face dial color options?

I like the Crepas El Buzo model but think the Doxa has a longer and refined Dive pedigree so was considering the Sharkhunter now over this.

Any comments or suggestions from the Doxa WIS clan would be appreciated.

That ElBuzo is a nice watch. But you're right, I'd much rather have a Doxa for the iconic style and history. It seems like the ElBuzo has cribbed off the sharkhunter.

I see nothing wrong with getting a non-Professional as your first choice. I'd probably go for the Searambler.

It's cool, just buy whichever DOXA you like best, regardless of color. My first one was blue, and I added six more to the collection before I ever bought an orange one. You'll likely be like the rest of us, you'll own more than one, so buy the one you like, instead of the one you think you should like. The orange can come later, so good luck in the hunt, and keep us updated.

I started with a 750 Sharkhunter then bought a 300T Pro. The Pro is very cool and iconic, but the Sharkie may be a bit more versatile. But it doesn't really matter what you start with, you'll probably own them all at some point anyway

I started my vintage collection with a Sharkhunter and worked my way round all the colours and after a long break from buying anything I've added another vintage Sharkhunter :)

Even though orange was the first color I got, I think any color is good for a first Doxa. As long as it's a Doxa, the color is entirely up to you. I personally love the Sharkhunter dials myself. You can't go wrong with either one.

Doxa has a style all its own. If you like that particular look, I do not think there really is a true substitute that can measure up. The closest diver I can think of that might scratch the same itch without feeling like you are losing any ground to the Doxa is the Sinn U1...

Nothing wrong with a rich, black-dialed, Doxa. Nothing at all.
