Months back the rice bead bracelet on my 600T Spirotechnique broke . I had a fairly difficult time tracking someone down that had the laser welding machine to mend the damage. I did get a quote for $195 who referred to the repair as a broken clasp....and that troubled me .
I figured I would wear it on a Tropic rubber strap, and put the repair on the back burner. Patience can/does pay off! I went to the repair guy my mother has gone to for years, talked shop with him, his name is David, and showed him the bracelet. Keep in mind, I just moved back to SD in December. Apparently, he remembers and loves the US Divers Subs, and has a friend that has the laser welder...hit two birdies with one stone !
It took a week, and $36 later.....yes $36.....the bracelet is properly mended .
San Diego guys, or anybody for that matter, if you have vintage rice bead bracelets that need welding, I would be happy to drop any repairs off for you. King Jeweler's is in my neck of the woods, Chula Vista.
They did a really nice job, the weld is clean and not terribly noticeable - check out pic no.4, you can see the weld. Looks good, and feels even better to wear it with it's original bracelet.
