Several years ago when Doc Pete lived relatively close by, we had dinner together at Bob Chinn's Crabhouse ( Bob Chinn's Crab House ).
Are any Doxaholics in the area (Northern Illinois, Southern Wisconsin or anywhere else) who would be interested in meeting at Bob Chinn's for a Saturday lunch? The restaurant has amazing seafood (their chargrilled grouper is my favorite, their garlic rolls are incredible, and their white clam chowder is to die for) and fantastic steaks, pizza, and other delicious items. On a Saturday at lunchtime, it's not crowded at all. They have large tables in glassed off side rooms (with a great view of the Des Plaines river) that we could easily reserve for a group up to any size.
Of course, we'd all bring our Doxas and related items for show and tell.
While I'm bringing this up early, I was thinking about doing it toward the end of the year and after the 50th Anniversary SUB 300 watches start shipping in November. I ordered a Pro, but it would neat to have lunch with those who might have a Sharkhunter or a Searambler.
Again, this is only April and I'm thinking about early December. But eight months lead time gives us an idea of how many people may be interested. It also lets people set that weekend aside. So maybe Saturday December 3, 2016?
Bob Chinn's in on Milwaukee Avenue in Wheeling, Illinois. There is a northbound and southbound exit/entrance off Tollway 94 at Lake-Cook Road that leads directly to Milwaukee Avenue. Pretty easy to get to.
