Dinner and my Doxa became the center of attention

I was in Las Vegas for the SHOT Show last week. My boss told me we were going to dinner with an acquaintance of his, a gentleman I've never met. The gentleman performs in Las Vegas and around the world. Introductions were made when we sat down at our table in the restaurant.

I saw the gentleman do a double take looking at my Doxa SUB1200T Professional DWL. Just as my boss was about to begin the conversation that he wanted to guide, the gentleman interrupted him and said, "Is that a Doxa?"

Too funny! This led to a discussion of watches, Clive Cussler, and scuba diving, along with the story and rarity of the Diving With Legends watch. The gentleman was wearing a Breitling that cost quite a bit more than my Doxa, but he had never seen a Doxa before and next thing you know, it was off my wrist and in his hands. He was very impressed.

We had fun talking about Cussler (he had read most of the books) and the finding and raising of The Hunley submarine.

I always enjoy it when someone spots my Doxa and it becomes a topic of conversation. We were polite and allowed the conversation to drift back to where my boss wanted it to go...eventually.

That is really neat, Steve! Thanks for sharing. BTW, both of those are beautiful Doxa watches! Cheers, Bill P.

I thought he was going to offer a trade for his Breitling.
Enjoy your two beautiful DOXA 1200T's. Blue and orange. Seahawks vs Broncos? Which color wins?

Great story! It's rewarding (and worth the long wait) when you encounter someone in the wild who really knows something about watches...

You said it, man! It is a truly happy accident when you do bump into that someone that knows their watches. Wonderful story! Sweet pics!
