    First Doxa, SUB 300 Searambler

After many years of admiring DOXA watches (love the orange and distinctive dials and casings, love the history too) I finally got one and WOW is it better than I expected!

I love the vintage dial and crystal with its distinctive edge distortion and the size is just perfect for everyday wear. One thing I noticed straight away that I didn't see mentioned anywhere before was the vintage DOXA font on the dial, which is not in bold like on their other modern watches. Very subtle and cool touch I thought (my last pic shows best how the font looks in real life i.e. quite faint and understated.

I've got some very nice watches in my relatively small collection, but I honestly think this is my favourite and I'm not just saying that because it's new. I just love everything about this design and how easy it is to wear. I did have a bit of a battle while sizing due to a few stubborn link screws, but got there in the end.

The icing on the cake for me personally is that 1967 is the year I was born, so this is now officially a belated 50th present to myself!

I was a little surprised how big this watch actually is relative to the diminutive dial diameter. For anyone thinking it might be too small, it wears more like a decent mid-sized watch due to the casing and double bezel. It's more in keeping with a typical 30-33 mm dial watch in reality, measuring approx 33 mm across the inner bezel. The silver dial in this version also takes your eye off the small dial and blends in with the bezel. The low stack height also makes it super comfortable to wear.

More the other way around. But you’re bang on about the silver dial smoothing out this perspective. I still crave an orange DOXA but am looking at the 1200T for this reason.

I see what you did there, lol! I'm very tempted to get a 1200T Sharkhunter for the black/orange contrast and cool name and possibly an orange Ti model like the M31. But one step at a time! For now I'm happy with the 300 searambler and would need to start selling other watches to justify getting any more, as I don't like having watches sat unworn for years as some of mine already have. Keepers for me are this Doxa (I expect it will be my default daily wear), my Speedy Moon (always loved these too), Speedy X33 (so functional and unique) and Casio G-shock! (atomic time is always useful as a reference and great for potential damage sports like mountain biking) The rest I wouldn't really miss much at all and rarely wear anyway.

Congratulations, and welcome to the Doxa family! We hear that a lot around here - that it's better than what people expected. The silver dial of the Searambler is really stunning. Wear it, love it - and if you are anything like the other guys here, your Doxa collection will likely multiply over the next few years.

Nice matching pair! I don't think I'll get another 300, but I do love the classic orange dial. I think my next Doxa would be a 1200T Shark or perhaps a titanium model if they make something along the lines of the M31 again. I just like to mix it up a bit, but if money was no object I'd probably buy the lot!
