How?: Engraved with limited edition number xxxx/1200

    Hello guys,

I just thought about this question regarding Limited Edition.

for example 1200T. Even on the official site "Engraved with limited edition number xxxx/1200"
Is it per/ Year? Month? How exactly does it work?

Because Now I am thinking about it, it can not be only 1200 pieces on earth. Can it really be? Seriously?
Currently 1200T still selling online, does that mean 1200 never sold out??
If it is 1200/pcs per year/month, how can it be limited edition???

More I think about it, more confused...Can someone clear me out? Thanks!

    What's a 1200T?

I can tell you in the case of the Beijing Beihai Limited edition (I'm sure you know it), they are limited to 2008 items, signifying the year 2008, being the Beijing Watch Factory's 50th anniversary.

These much-sought-after items did not all sell out in the year 2008, because the factory did not make all of them in the year 2008. They make some each year, and are still releasing some in 2015. (In about 2013 they upgraded to a new movement, but it's still part of the same limited edition series).

I can't say how many per year, or how many years it will go on for, but the idea is that they will eventually make only 2008 of these watches in total. (One would hope).

Anyway, maybe that example can offer some answer to your question.

Yes, I am referring to DOXA 1200T. The regular dial ones, not those with limited edition graphics on dial.
it is the currently most popular model.

    Haha!

Yes I picked up the question in the New Posts list. Googled a 1200t motorbike.

Regardless, I hope my example gives WuYeah some clues. It looked like a generic question.

I believe Doxa models are based on depth rating.

A 600T means it is depth rated to 600meters so a 1200T is rated for 1200meters and so on.

The LE numbering is your watch's series within the release. Say 69/300 is 69th of 300 total. And yes Doxa does have limited edition releases and they are not as common or big numbers release as the well known brands like Rolex and Omega. I do however like the small LE numbers since it is kinda rare, not valuable or high priced.

I've change the font color in your original post. White font on a white background is hard to read.

To answer your question, in most cases Doxa decides how many watches they are going to make in a certain model/case size (regardless of dial color) and releases them as limited editions. That projected number becomes a part of the serial number (1 thru 1,200 of 1,200). Once that run is completed they retire that model. There have been some instances when Doxa has terminated a model/case size early in favor of releasing a new model (I believe the 600T was terminated early for the more popular 750T), so that run size will actually be smaller than what was projected and is engraved on the caseback.

Yes, there will only be 1,200 Doxa 1,200T made in the various dial colors. Once they are sold out there will be no more...until Doxa finds one squirreled away somewhere and offers it up here.

OMG...I still cannot believe they are less than 1200 owners. More people should buy Doxa. How can they stay in business selling so little.

They don't just sell subs. Go to http://www.doxa.ch/ to see a large array of other models they offer.

This is exactly how we do it!

We have also in the past run the searial numbers by dial color in certain models. You could find two SUB5000T's one a Professional and one a Sharkhunter with the same serial number. Because in that case we planned to make 5000 of each dial color. Most of the time though, the serial number reflects the total number made. I hope this helps, please feel free to contact us with any further questions.
