Hello guys and gals, sorry but i didnt know where to post this as it is not a direct doxa post but im sure all of you will enjoy it and will be curious about it.
i was able to source the parts needed on the bay ($70 for all sans bracelet) and successfuly completed the project. All i can say is... this system doxa used back in the days is brilliant. Well worth the effort in the design and functionality is 100% beautiful. The sound of the ratcheting clasp is a bonus to the ears. This is fully working as intended and i can use it with all my divers. So, what does this consist off? Any size endlink is compatible, 18, 20 or 22mm, bracelet itself is hollow grain seiko 19mm tapered to 16ish, expandro pieces are 16mm and clasp is 15mm, it expands, slides, ratchets, opens and all the bells and whistles.
you can see in the pics, the expandro type spring links have been used before by fellow members to repair damaged doxa bracelets as ive read here, i used the whole link and notched (using dremel) the semi circles for the grain of the bracelet to fit inside..
(ive done the same with the other links for a jubilee bracelet as well)
next, the clasp was a direct fit on the other side of the spring link, just opened the link a bit with a tiny flat screwdriver and then pinched it back with pliers to close over the spring link..
i have had this idea in mind for a while and im very happy i was able to complete it. It was relatively easy to do...
i have more than 5 seiko BOR’s and i like the challenges... i gave it a shot and it worked, anyone can actually do it with some patience and a bit of skill!!
Good luck for all if you decide to try it, any questions please ask!
